June 13-18 Winnebago

Fished every day in the mud catching between 10-30 fish each day.
Crawler harnesses, 10 feet down, 1.2 mph.
Calm days, at least50 ft. from boat.
Lot of spooky fish from heavy boat traffic and fishing pressure.
Getting ready for FLW tourney on bay of Green Bay.
Had to pick up 2 new batteries for my trolling motor. Big chunk of change, but necessary.

May 30 Stockbridge tournament

Prefished 4 days before the Stockbridge tourney on 'bago.
Slip bobber fishing for walleyes since it was pretty windy for trolling.
Came in 21st.
Fished jigs and leeches off the rock hump on the east side.

June 7 Winnebago

Not the best day fishing, but you know what they say.

May 17 Petenwell Flowage FLW tournament

Pre-fished for this tournament for 5 days.
Spent the time trolling and losing crank baits in the old river channel.
Saw something I had never seen in all my years fishing. My buddy and local guide actually fell in the water. He was trying to retrieve a snagged bait and fell in. It was pretty cold! He's good though.
The tournament was on Saturday but it got blown out. They rescheduled for Sunday.
Although it was still pretty windy, I managed to boat some fish. Lots of overs and shorts.
Stayed at St. Joseph's resort in Necedah. Nice place.

First Spring 2009 Fishing!

119 miles round trip to take Wade and Toni out fishing.
Went out of Oshkosh and only caught one 7 pounder.

3/27/09
Went out on Lake Michigan once. South of Sheboygan near Black River.
Caught 5 Brown Trouts on Lou's Crank Baits.

August 24, 30, 31, and Sept 2
I finally got out to Winnebago to go perch fishing.
The bite was pretty good - ended up getting enough eaters 2 of the days for meals. The other two days it was just for fun and they all were set free.

FLW League Championship

Sept 6 through the 13
Went over to Winona to prefish for the week leading up to the championship.
This was my first time on the Mississippi and it was tough. I didn't want to spring for $18/doz willow cats so I used whatever I could that might act like one.
There isn't really a good substitute, turns out.
I ended up placing 38th on the first day of the event and then dropped down to 48th.
At least I was in the top half of the field! We caught fish both days, just not enough weight to get us in the top 10 to qualify for the third and last day of the tourney.
It was a good experience.

Back to the Bay
Went up to the Bay on the 19th to prefish for a guide job.
Had a nice guy and his son for a 1/2 day on the 21st.
Been putting the boat in at Oconto.

July 17, 21, 29 and August 2
Fished the Bay of Green Bay these days. FLW League tournament capped it off. Good results, ended up qualifying for the FLW Championship in Winona MN on the Mississippi River.

Winnebago out of Stockbridge
Caught some small walleye and LOTS of sheephead rnning crawler harnesses.
I sure can't find any nice walleyes lately, but 20 pound bags are winning every tournament out there.
I must be missing something.
Maybe it's time to go perch fishing.

My 2nd FLW Walleye League event of the year.
Caught a limit of 16.8 pounds -- enough for 40th place.
No money again.
But in 19th place for qualifying for the Championship! The top 30 are in so I'm hopeful the last tournament out of Oconto on August 2nd will go well.
It would be nice to cash a check!

June 24, 25, 26, and 27th
Pre-fished Green Bay from the mouth of the Fox all the way to Oconto Shoals.
I caught fish everywhere, but I could not find the right school to win the tournament.
I caught some real monster sheephead everywhere and averaged 12 hours on the water these days - hot and sunny.
Most fish were in the weeds or on 12 foot humps. Blades and crawlers on 1/2 oz. weights.

Suamico
Father's Day
Had Jay and his son up from Illinois. We went for a full day trip and ended up with 30 walleyes. The biggest was 25". We caught a 30" northern and numerous cats and sheephead. All on harnesses.

Caught 19 fish all day. Fished in the weeds pretty heavily. 1/2 oz weight, 10-20 behind the boards, color of blades really didn't matter.

Winnebago

Put in at Stockbridge and ran 41 miles one way. Went to the west side mud and caught two 22" walleyes, released. Then two 15" 'eyes and lost them by the boat.

Pulling crawler harnesses, any color, between 2 feet down to the bottom.

Nice algae bloom going on.

Stockbridge Tournament on Lake Winnebago

Fished with Wade.

Had 3 fish to weight. 7 pounds. No money.

I was worried in the morning because it was calm and I've never fished a tournament when it was calm. Well, no sooner did I think it, than the winds kicked up - 3-4 foot waves and 20-30 mph winds.

I had the EM electric in reverse to keep us slow enough.

Fished the mud straight out of Stockbridge. Two 15 inchers all day, and some dinky ones.

It's going to be a tough tournament tomorrow.

Caught 4 eaters out in the mud. All on harnesses. No real preference for color or depth.

2nd Suamico trip

Took Dale fishing. Very windy! Went with the same program as the day before - it was working so god. But only 13 fish this day. One 26 incher, the rest between 18" and 23". All released.

It's getting time for Lake Winnebago again. Have a fishing tournament coming up. The bite tough right now and the gas is $4.00 a gallon. That hurts.

Suamico

Went to Suamico for the first time tis year. Fished shallow - 3 to 4 feet of water with harnesses, 10-20 feet back with 1/8 oz. rubber core sinker.

Blade color didn't matter, speed was between .8 and 1.0 mph.

Oh yeah, caught 30 fish!

I ran out of crawlers, they were so hungry. Kept 5 smaller 15-17 inchers to eat, but the bulk were between 20-23 inches. The biggest was 27 inches.

Very fun day - finally we were whacking them!

May 11 Mothers Day

Bayshore

Back to the Bay. Very strong east wind. Fished Volks Reef and caught 2 27 inchers on harnesses, gold blade, 40 feet back with an 1/8th oz. rubber core sinker. Went down to Red Banks and caught 8 more between 18-22 inches.

All on harnesses, gold-purple blade, 20-40 back with 1/8 oz. weight. 1.2-1.4 mph. A little faster than usual for harnesses.

Released all.

Oconto - Bay of Green Bay
Haven't fished since Winneconne tournament 2 weeks ago. The wind is STILL blowing!

Went to Oconto with Wade and Toni. The winds and water were calm. Nice day. Caught only 3 walleyes, all in 6 feet of water.

Winneconne

Pre-fished for DAYS for this tournament. Didn't help. The weather was awful, strong storms and tornado warnings. Placed in the middle of the pack. Nobody did well.

Lake Michigan

Same as the other day - south of Sheboygan near the power plant. Caught 8 fish this time, all on razor minnows. Four 5 pound Browns off the plant.
I ripped north to Stoney Point, but I could see the bottom at 16 feet of water. I headed out to 30 feet of water - at about 30 mph - and could still see the bottom.
I headed to the harbor area and caught four more 5 pound Browns over there.
